The BMW WilliamsF1 team would see their drivers drop down the times in final Canadian practice to now be in 9th & 10th. Nick Heidfeld was ahead of team-mate Mark Webber. Both drivers were around 1.5 seconds slower than the quickest time so one's expectations for qualifying are not looking very good.

Canadian GP Saturday 2nd Practice

The final practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix would see both Nick and Mark struggle with the pair finishing in ninth and tenth. Early in the session they were close to the top of the times but as time progressed they would slip down the order. How this will place them come this afternoon's qualifying is hard to judge but it will be difficult.

HeidfeldThe first couple of minutes of the final practice session at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit were very quite with only the Red Bull of Christian Klein taking to the track. He would set a time of 1m:19.714. Joining him weer Raikkonen, Montoya, and Mark Webber.

Kimi would go fastest with a time of 1m:16.977, but Fisichella would beat this time with a 1m:16.626. Mark was in third with a 1m:17.908. Klein was now in fourth with Michael Schumacher fifth and Jordan's Tieago Monteiro sixth. Albers would also set his first time, that of a 1m:22.346. At the top it would be Montoya who was now fastest with a 1m:16.383.

But both Fisichella and Mark would go faster with the Renault driver taking the top spot and Mark second. Mark's time was a 1m:16.198. But things would change very quickly with Montoya now in second and Kimi third. BAR's Takuma Sato was now in fourth with Mark fifth and Button sixth.

Sato would move into third with a 1m:15.710. Nick Heidfeld had yet to take to the
track. With just over thirty minutes of the session remaining Button was now in fourth behind his team-mate Sato. The Red Bull's of Coulthard and Klein were in ninth and tenth. Michael Schumacher was seventh and Villeneuve eighth.

At the top of the times Button was now fastest with a time of 1m:15.639. Barrichello was now in twelfth. Button's time at the top did not last long as Alonso went even faster with a lap of 1m:15.435. Nick was out and he was in ninth with a time of 1m:16.323. Mark was now in seventh. Alonso would improve his time with a 1m:15.345. The only car yet to set a time was that of Trulli. Nick was now in sixth while Ralf Schumacher was in eighth. Mark was now down in ninth. Ralf would improve his time but not his place.

WebberNow it was the turn of Fisichella to set the quickest time, with a 1m:15.274.
Giancarlo would improve this time with a lap of 1m:1.226, which was just 0.11 ahead of team-mate Alonso. The Sauber's of Massa and Villeneuve were down in eleventh and thirteenth. The Renault's were again fastest through the speed trap with Mark only fifth. The Renault's were some 5kph faster than the FW27. As the times weer bettered neither FW27 was seen on the speed data.Nick and Mark were now in sixth and seventh, with Mark improving his time with a 1m:15.894. Michael Schumacher was in tenth with just under twenty minutes left in the session.

But with a brilliant lap it would be Montoya who was now fastest with a 1m:14.745. Team-mate Raikkonen was in eighth, some 1.25 seconds slower than his team-mate. Alonso was able to pass his team-mate, moving into second with a time of 1m:14.756 to be 0.011 behind Montoya.

Sato would also join Montoya and Alonso in the 1m:14s with a time of 1m:14.883 to see him now in third. Nick and Mark were still in sixth and seventh. There was now just over ten minutes remaining in the session. Michael Schumacher was now in sixth with a 1m:15.316. As the clock counted down to now see just five minutes remaining there was little change at the top of the times. Barrichello was now in ninth.

But Fisichella was able to move into second just 0.001 behind Montoya. Ralf was now in seventh. But the closing minutes would see a flurry of activity and it would be Kimi who went fastest with a time of 1m:14.232. Alonso was now in second with a 1m:14.670.Ralf Schumacher was now in sixth. Nick and Mark were down in ninth and tenth as the session came to an end.
