Hungarian GP Saturday 3rd
Practice
In a session
that would see little activity in the first half the BMW WilliamsF1 team
drivers would finish in seventh and ninth with Nick Heidfeld again ahead of
team-mate Mark Webber.
With
Toyota's Ricardo Zonta fastest in Friday practice for the 2005 Hungarian
Grand Prix. Of the regular drivers fastest was McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen.
With the start of the opening Saturday practice session the Minardi's of
Doornbos and Albers would take to the track for their installation lap.
They would be joined by the Jordan's of Monteiro Karthikeyan. Both the
McLaren's of Montoya and Raikkonen would also come out for their
installation lap. With fifteen minutes of the session run no driver had set
a time. This was a very slow start to the session. With twenty five minutes
of the session remaining we had still not seen a driver set a time. For the
paying spectators this was not what they had come for to see an empty track.
Finally Tiago Monteiro's Jordan would come out. He was joined by Albers and
Doornbos. The first of the Renault's was out, that of Fernando Alonso.
Toyota's Ralf Schumacher was also out. The first driver to set a time was Albers with

a time of 1m:24.022 to go fastest. Villeneuve and Fisichella had also
completed their installation lap. Albers would improve with a 1m:26.974 while Monteiro
was third with a 1m:28.741.
Michael Schumacher and Takuma Sato had now come out. Ralf's first lap would
see him set a time of 1m:25.685 to go second fastest. Villeneuve was fifth
with a 1m:27.935. Neither of the BMW WilliamsF1 drivers had come out onto
the track. Fisichella would move into second with a 1m:24.200. Sato was now
fourth with a 1m:25.523. Michael Schumacher's first lap would see him go
fastest with a 1m:23.330. Brother Ralf was now second with a 1m:23.512.
Karthikeyan was in tenth.
Michael would improve his time with a 1m:23.142. Sato was fifth and
Villeneuve sixth. Massa would take this spot from his team-mate. Doornbos
was slowest with a 1m:27.935. Trulli would come out for his installation lap
with just over ten minutes left in the session. Massa was now in fifth and
Sato sixth. Neither Red Bull car had taken to the track. Doornbos would
improve his time and was now in ninth with a 1m:26.349. Villeneuve was now
in fifth.
Klein would come out, joined by the first WilliamsF1 driver Mark Webber.
Trulli was now in third with a 1m:23.935. Klein was tenth on his first lap.
Nick Heidfeld would join Mark on his installation lap. Alonso was now in
fourth with Massa fifth and Fisichella sixth. Villeneuve and Sato were
seventh and eighth. Mark's first timed lap would see him in fifteenth with a
1m:29.432. Klein was now in seventh.
Nick's first lap would see him in seventh with a time of 1m:24.354, pushing
Klein down one spot. Alonso was now in second with a 1m:23.087. The McLaren
of Montoya was now fastest with a time of 1m:22.870 but Juan Pablo was
quickly beaten by team-mate Raikkonen with a time of 1m:22.253. Alonso was
now in third, with Michael and Ralf fourth and fifth. Button was down in
thirteenth with Mark in fourteenth. At the front Montoya was again fastest
with a 1m:21.980. Kimi had improved his time with a 1m:22.032.
Button was now in seventh with Coulthard eighth in the closing minutes of
the session. Michael was now in third and Alonso fourth. Mark would jump up
the times to now be in seventh with a 1m:23.834. But Barrichello, on his
first lap, would take this spot with a 1m:23.583. Nick would move ahead of
Rubens pushing Mark down to ninth. Kimi had again gone fastest with a time
of 1m:21.686.
In the closing seconds Michael would move into second with a 1m:21.842 while
brother Ralf was fourth with a 1m:22.712. Alonso was fifth and Trulli sixth
