With the
announcement that Jenson Button would not be returning to the WilliamsF1
team in 2006 current team driver Mark Webber expressed his disappointment.
Webber
spoke of his disappointment when interviewed on Thursday in the run up to
this weekends Brazilian Grand Prix.
Webber said: "It's a real shame him not joining. It would have been great to
have him here as a strong part of the team but his heart was not going to be
here.
"I can understand the situation Jenson is in, in that he has got everything
he wants down there and it's clearly a step he has taken because he doesn't
want to come here any more.
"The only way to get around that is for compensation to happen. He is in a
situation when he's got the speed, the results and the whole team working
for him, he doesn't want to leave that now.
"It was only his decision as to how much he wants to compensate to stay
there."
As for who will partner Mark in 2006 there is several candidates but one
driver whose name is been mentioned is WilliamsF1 test driver Nico Rosberg.
As for who he felt would join him in 2006 Mark spoke of how Nico was a
frontrunner.
Mark added: "I
think he is, but that's just my opinion. Frank (Williams) is talking about
other people but I would think he would be frontrunner."
"Obviously there is a spare seat there next year and Nico's done a good job
in testing...clearly he's on the list, no question about it."
"I think Antonio
is very well known, they know what he can do. He's been here for four years.
Nico's been here for four months. Nico's young, but beyond his years really.
"With Jenson, it would have been good for him to be here for so many
reasons. He's not, so we have to get the next long-term charger in and if
it's Nico that's great." |
