WilliamsF1 must deliver in 2006

For Patrick Head the WilliamsF1 team can not afford to have a repeat of the 2005  season as they are in danger of seeing their status of one of the bigger Formula One teams diminish. IT is very much a case that the 2006 season must be one where the team delivers.

Patrick HeadIn an interview for the Autosport magazine Head spoke of the teams need to reverse the failures of the last two years.

Head said: "Williams is an independent company and it cannot continue to survive as a competitive force in F1 with the sort of seasons we have had in 2004 and 2005.

"Anyone can keep running a team down until it's dead in the water, but that's not what Williams is about. We were fourth last year and won a race, this year was more difficult. It's too long ago that we won a title and that's something we have to correct if we want to be taken seriously as a competitive force in GP racing."

As for the teams chances of restoring their position amongst the Formula One teams Head was keen to stress that they are not a spent force.

Head added: "We're a company that has survived on action rather than talk and we must deliver next year.

"Anybody who thinks we are a spent force would be making a rash judgement."
