Reports that the WilliamsF1 team
and Toyota had signed an engine deal have been quickly denied by both
parties. Representatives from both WilliamsF1 and Toyota have made
statements saying that nothing had been signed and that there was nothing to
report in terms of any discussions between WilliamsF1 and Toyota.
In an interview for the German magazine Auto Motor Und Sport a Toyota
spokeswoman said: ''This issue was discussed with us in the last few weeks
but an inquiry in Japan did not result in anything being signed.'' In the
same article the magazine indicated that the WilliamsF1 team was pushing for
a free emgine supply deal from Toyota.
WilliamsF1 Communications Manager Liam Clogger said: ''I spoke about this
today with (Sir) Frank Williams (and) there is absolutely nothing new to
report.'' |
