WilliamsF1 to retain Webber for 2007

Comments from WilliamsF1 Technical Director Sam Michael appear to support the view that the WilliamsF1 team will keep Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg as the team drivers for the 2007 season.

Webber, Jackie Stewart, Nico RosbergTechnical director Sam Michael said: "The driver decision will be Frank's, but the most likely thing is to continue with the two drivers we have for next year.

"All the options are in Williams' favour as things go. Frank will make his choice when the time is right. I can't see anything else he'd do."

Mark's contract runs out at the end of the year but the team does have an option on his contract but the team must make a decision to exercise this option prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix.

As for relationship between Mark and Nico after their on track moment that would see Nico hinder Mark's qualifying lap that would see him dropped in the first group of drivers. Nico has said that there is not an issue between the pair.

On the Castrol web site Nico wrote: "The new qualifying system has thrown up some controversial sessions so far this year with drivers being accused of holding each other up and using spoiling tactics.

"Both myself and my team-mate Mark Webber have been on the receiving end of such incidents already.

"Unfortunately on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit we were part of the same one. During the first session Mark was on his flying lap and I was on my out lap when he came up behind me.

"I was a fraction of a second too late moving out of his way, it cost him only around one and a half tenths of a second and he ended up qualifying back down the grid.

"It was really unfortunate, but in reality it wasn't as big an issue as some people outside of the team have made out. We've spoken about it since and I've said sorry."
