McLaren finished the second practice 2nd and 5th, with second place man Lewis Hamilton just 0.013 behind Kimi Räikkönen, Lewis finishing 2nd and Fernando finishing 5th.
Track temperatures reached thirty five degrees Celsius and track temperatures reaching forty nine degrees, causing Britain’s Jenson Button’s engine to spectacularly explode, glazing the track with oil and water, which later caused Felipe Massa to spin on. Fortunately for the Brazilian, he didn’t spin and went on to set fourth fastest.
McLaren had a problem free day and their pace looked promising; we can only wait for qualifying to see the team’s true pace.
Again, unfortunately we don’t know what fuel loads any of the drivers were running. Fernando and Lewis completed more laps than they did in practice one, we can only guess that they were focusing on longer runs, or tuning the set up more.
