Back in late 2006, world champion Mika Hakkinen tested last years McLaren car the MP4-21, and reports show he could be back, testing the MP4-22 instead of the older MP4-21.
When Mika tested last, there was no escaping the fact that he was slow in fact he was a massive five seconds slower than the fastest driver on the test, it was far from spectacular
The test was mainly there for me to understand what is going on behind the scenes at the team. The team did not have any good results for a while and I wanted to help them. Some people couldn't believe how I could help after not being in a Formula 1 car for five years, but we had a great day of testing. I could supply a lot of data to the team. Obviously I couldn't be the fastest driver out there straight away but I could explain the team what I felt in the car and what they could try to improve."
Mika would be keen on testing again; a specific date has not been set at the present time. "Although there isn't a specific date Ron Dennis keeps the door open for me. I will be testing again, but I don't know when and where yet so we will have to wait."
