Silverstone Race: A Podium Finish

Today the MP4-22’s pace was not enough to beat the super fast Ferrari F2007, Lewis looked to have the pace to keep Kimi behind, as the young brit just edged ahead of the Fin. Suddenly a quarter way into the race, Lewis looked to be struggling with his car, his lap times slowed, and Kimi began to reign in the current championship leader, Fernando Alonso stayed with the two and reaped the benefits.

The main event in the race had to be Felipe Massa, the Brazilian’s Ferrari engine stalled on the grid, forcing a second formation lap, shortening the grand prix by one lap. The talented Ferrari mechanics managed to get the car started, and Felipe started the 59 lap race from the pit lane. He managed to salvage 4 points in the form of 5th place, not bad considering he started 22nd and last.

Lewis struggled with the balance of his car for all of the grand prix, the young Brit had been struggling with this problem since the weekend began. He then tried to adapt his driving style to the problem that confronted him, but to no avail. McLaren decided to turn the rookie’s engine down to save it for the European grand prix, in two weeks time.

Meanwhile Fernando Alonso looked to be enjoying himself at the wheel of McLaren’s MP4-22, the Spaniard held on to Kimi and Lewis in the first stint of the race, and managed to overtake both Kimi and Lewis at the first stop, the McLaren driver put in some great in and out laps to achieve this, and ultimately ended the race second, as he couldn’t hold a charging Kimi Räikkönen behind him.
