During the break between the first and second practice session, heavy rain fell on the Nurburgring leaving the track wet at the start of the second practice session. Luckily for the drivers the track dried up towards the end of the session, allowing the drivers to set their fastest laps of the session, despite this Lewis Hamilton remained the fastest driver on Friday.

The top 4 drivers remained unchanged for the rain hit second session, although their order was changed slightly, Lewis Hamilton fell from first position to second position in the second session. Kimi Räikkönen rose from 2nd to 1st, his team mate, Felipe Massa, finished the session 3rd. With Lewis’s double world championship team mate, Fernando Alonso in 4th position.

Toyota looked to have got their act together, as drivers Ralf Schumacher –who only a couple of weeks ago, looked to be (reluctantly) heading for the formula one exit door- and Jarno Trulli finished the second ninety minute session 5th and 6th respectively.
