The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One team have completed the second free practice session. Reigning world champion Fernando Alonso narrowed the gap to Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen to just 0.006 of a second. Meanwhile Lewis Hamilton finished the session two tenths of a second shy of Räikkönen.

Track conditions didn’t change as the teams went into the second and final Friday free practice session. Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen topped the time sheets, with Fernando Alonso six one thousandths of a second behind the flying fin.

Felipe Massa ended the session in third place just over two one hundredths of a second behind his Finish team mate. Current championship leader Lewis Hamilton finished the second ninety minute session just over two tenths of a second shy off the best time of Fridays two sessions.

Toyota’s Jarno Trulli was best of the rest, the Italian comfortably finishing the session in 5th place three tenths clear of Red Bulls Mark Webber. Jarno’s team mate Ralf Schumacher, who announced earlier this week that he would not be competing the 2008 season with Toyota ended the session in 7th place, just a tenth ahead of David Coulthard.

Williams’s Nico Rosberg ended the session in 9th in his Toyota powered FW-28, with Renaults Giancarlo Fisichella rounding out the top ten in tenth place.
