In a tremendously eventful afternoon, Alonso made it a Renault hatrick, whilst McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen could smell the team's first victory of 2006, crossing the line just 1.8 seconds behind the World Champion. Scott Spped was stripped of STR's first points after passing under yellows.
