Michael Schumacher has been crowned Germany's Sportsman of the Year by the nation's media.

It is only the second occasion that the seven-time Formula One world champion has won the award.

Schumacher enjoyed his most successful season yet in 2004, winning 13 out of 18 races and stretching his overall record number of race wins to 83 - 32 more than legendary Frenchman Alain Prost
