Scuderia Toro Rosso endured another lackluster performance at yesterday's Canadian GP as neither driver was able to make signifiicant advances beyond their respective starting grid spots. A warmer than expected day added to tire wear, forcing the squad to abandon their split strategy, where Jean-Eric Vergne would attempt to run the distance on one stop. 

The Frenchman would compound this 'on-the-fly' strategy change by speeding in the pit lane, causing him to be slapped with a drive through penalty. In the end, he would finish in the 15th spot.

Daniel Ricciardo, who was on a two stop plan all along, would find it to be no more of a help in working his way through the mid-pack cars. The Aussie would finish in 14th; the same position from which he started the day.

Here are the teams' post-race comments:

Daniel Ricciardo (14th): 

"I got a good launch off the line but there was nowhere really for me to go, so I opted to down the inside at Turn One, which put me at the outside of Turn Two, where I tried to go around a few of the guys in front of me. But there was no as much grip there as I had expected and this cost me a few places. ...From mid-race to the end, I could not match the pace of those I was racing against. Our pace is simply not enough to crack the top at the moment."

Jean-Eric Verrgne (15th):

"Its definitely not an easy circut with the walls so close have to push every lap and from that point of view the afternoon was okay, but [of course] the result is disappointing. ...The strategy? - I don't think we could have done anything different." 

Franz Tost, Team Principal:

"We lacked pace this weekend, as was already evident in qualifying and was seen again this afternoon. ...We head back home to prepare for a busy couple of months in Europe and we need to push on with car developement, as we are not where we want to be at the moment."
