Aabar Increasing It's Investment In STR?

By Andrew Cutler
December 24 2012

I confess that I've been 'sitting' on this story for a couple of weeks now, but it was only to see if there was any offical confirmation forthcomming. As of yet, there has been none. Nevertheless, back in mid-December the German publication AutoSport featured an article claiming that the Abu Dhabi state investment company Aabar was increasing it's ownership share in Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Aabar was already a financial backer in STR throught it's subsidiary, Falcon Private Bank. AutoSport states that it's new deal gives it ownership of "49 to 61 percent" of the Faenza-based squad.

As of yet, there has been no confirmation of this alledged new deal from either Aabar or Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Aabar had recently withdrawn from it's 40 percent ownership stake in the Mercedes F1 team.

I will update this story just as soon as I see any formal statements from either party involved.

would be interesting to know whether this story is dead in the water or still kicking?

Agreed. Hopefully, now that the holidays are over, we'll start getting some news re: sponsors, the STR8, etc...

i do admire your tenacity andy, in keeping this site afloat especially as quite a few people, me included, encouraged you to set it up.

my apologies for not following through. i posted this here on this thread as it was to do with ‘investment. and that is why you have done, invested your time.

,maybe some serious lobbying should take place to see if there are more people interested in the fate and future of toro rosso.

i will try to get over here more often ands see if i can help out. the problem is that when people see me posting they may run the other way hahaha.

i like ricciardo’s comments and hopefully TR will give him a car that will enable him to shine and exhibit those talents that i believe he has in bucket loads.

k1 is here. Ripper. You might see me here posting rubbish more often too!

Andy, take heart mate, I always duck in to read your posts.

You might find there will be a critical mass situation as you get some more posts.

Discussion will breed discussion, then away it will go.

Keep up the good work mate!

Now now. Please do not drive this board into disrepute like you did at Williams and Red Bull!
