Today it was announced that Sakon Yamamoto would remain with Super Aguri as their 2nd test driver, at the same time he is expecting to find a race seat in another catogory.
With two main drivers Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson announced. Then recently Giedo van der Garde as third driver, and now Sakon Yamamoto as second test driver, the Super Aguri 2007 lineup seems pretty much complete.
Yamamoto started his 2006 campaign midway through the season, with problems at first. But he had solid finishes in Japan and China, and finished the race in Brazil while setting the 7th fastest race lap. As well becoming second test driver, Sakon Yamamoto is also job seeking a race seat in another catogory.
Yamamoto to give his best in 2007, "It is great news that I am able to stay in Formula One with the Super Aguri team in 2007 and would like to thank everyone who has supported me, especially Aguri-san. I will try to do my best in my new role and give the team good support from my time in the car next year."
Aguri confident in Yamamoto, "I am very happy that Sakon will remain a member of the Super Aguri team next season. We will help him to secure a race seat in another category for 2007 and I am confident that his experience gained from Formula One racing this year will help him achieve this goal."
