Picking Up Where He Left Off
By Andrew Cutler
March 27 2011

Will Power was the class of the field during the road/street races of the 2010 Indycar Series season and, if qualifications for Sunday's St. Petersburg race are any indication, 2011 will hold more of the same.

Power posted a lap of 1:1.9624 around the 1.8 mile, 14 turn circut, which is part airport tarmac & part everyday streets, to grab the top spot. Dario Franchitti, in search of his 3rd consecutive (and fourth overall) championship, will start alongside the Aussie in 2nd. Row Two will feature Scott Dixon and Mike Conway, in his first event since his season-ending wreck last May at Indy. Ryan Briscoe and Justin Wilson are on Row Three.

The race starts at 12:30pm ET/17:30pm GMT.

The Firestone Indy Lights Series begins their 2011 campaign will a 45 lap race prior to the 100 lap IndyCar event. Newcommer Esteban Guerrieri, driving for Sam Schmidt Motorsports, claimed the pole for that contest.
