Takuma Sato may have driven himself out of a job according to The Sun's F1 columnist Stan Piecha. Taku's drive brought an estimated £2,000,000 into Jordan's coffers, however that money may be used to lure Eddie Irvine away from Jaguar and into the second seat at the Silverstone based outfit.

Sponsors Benson & Hedges are know to want a British driver at the team and could stump up the rest of the cash needed to bring Irvine to the team.  However, Sato is under contract to the team for a further year and based on the rest of the season, Eddie would be mad to drop Taku.

Surely, the money would be better spent on the team and the car, rather than trying to lure an over the hill, arrogant windbag away from a job in a team that is starting to pay dividends.

Nikki Lauda is due to make a decision on Irvine's future with Jaguar in the next month.  He hasn't ruled out keeping him.
