Jordan has begun a two day test at Monza in preparation for the Italian Grand Prix in two weeks time. Giancarlo Fisichella and Zsolt Baumgartner were at the reigns for part one of the test.

Giancarlo completed 49 laps and Zsolt 64 laps, testing the teams brake programme.  The team also worked on the Cosworth engine development and there was rear suspension and set up work in preparation for the low downforce race.

“We worked through our programme of various developments for the next few races without any serious issues today.” said Gary Anderson.

Ralph Firman under medical advice decided to sit out the test this week to concentrate on his fitness for the Grand Prix.  Most disappointed, Ralph commented

"Naturally I am disappointed not to be testing in Monza because this is another circuit on which I have no previous experience.  But it is more important to be 100 per cent fit for the Italian Grand Prix and therefore I am taking the time to rest and train."

Although I felt a bit sore for a day or two after the accident, I have been feeling very well for the past week.  However I have been told that any concussion, no matter how slight, should be given a couple of weeks and on that basis I would not want to unduly risk anything for myself or others by climbing back in too soon."

Björn Wirdheim replaces Zsolt for tomorrows test.

The next Silverstone test is 16th-18th September 2003 and is open to the public.  It's not known if Jordan are to attend the
