Nick Heidfeld is talking to other teams in a bid to secure a new team and a new drive for 2005 according to f1racing.net's website.

The current Jordan number one driver has said that he wants to make progress and fight for World Championships but concedes that it is difficult to do so from where he is at the moment.

"It's not out of the question that I'll stay, but I want to make progress. It is obviously difficult to fight for the championship here." he said.

Prompted by suggestion that his current 2004 drive with Jordan is under threat, the German said "I don't have to bring money to keep the drive. We always try to find sponsors but I'm not under threat."

The 27 year olds manager Werner Heinz is however speaking to a couple of teams about a race seat for 2005.

BAR and Jaguar may be the German's only hope for a competitive drive next year.
