F1 is in a state of decline and the reason for that according to the media is Ferrari. But the issues go deeper than Ferrari winning and F1Kiwi looks at these issues. Posted on our forum the article raises genuine points of interest and should not be ignored.

First of all let's stop all the rubbish about domination - it happens in all sports. Peugot in rallying, Audi in Le Mans, Holden Racing Team in V8 Supercars, Ian Thorpe in swimming etc etc. I don't hear anyone threatening to take away Thorpe's togs or Marcus Grunholm's co driver so let's stop the hypocrisy and the hysteria.
Bernie and the FIA are doing the sport no favours with their constant meddling and changing of the rules. Bernie might be rich but it doesn't seem to have given him any business know how when it comes to TV rights and who to sell them to. Result? Bankrupt companies and the manufacturers planning a breakaway series. If this happens Michael may well be the last great champion of the sport as we know it.
Speaking of poor business sense the continuing saga of a team named Arrows and it's boss Tom Walkingshaw is an absolute disgrace. I've heard Ferrari's conduct called a farce but Arrows takes the cake. And after all the threats of action from the FIA and from Bernie what have they done about it? Nothing - too busy bagging Ferrari.
Blaming Ferrari for poor ratings is a joke. From the amount of red I see in the crowd each race it looks like it's Ferrari and their fans who are propping the sport up! There are other reasons for a downturn, remember it was the World Cup Soccer this year - people had other things to spend their money on. Our mate Mika Hakkinen retired and I'm sure a few fans went with him, not to mention the shameful treatment of Jos Verstappen at the hands of you know who as well.
This of course brings us to the most obvious point - not one team this year has risen to the challenge that Ferrari have laid before them. And it's not a shot in the dark! F1 has strict rules and restrictions governing the cars so with that in mind and the proof of the pudding in Ferrari's performance surely the teams can figure out where they need to improve. I'm sure it would help if Michelin and their teams could stop arguing about whose fault it is that they're not winning, and get on with producing good tyres and good cars. The lack of imagination when it comes to strategy in a race is stunning as well. It seems that only Ferrari are willing to take a punt on a strategy and that the others would all rather moan after the race that it wasn't their day.
So before the powers that be, the other teams, the "fans" and the media prime their pencils and sharpen their tongues for another anti red attack they should look a little deeper and clean their own house first.
