The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro duo ended this morning’s thirty minute warm-up the way they will start this afternoon’s 53 lap Japanese Grand Prix. Michael Schumacher was quickest in 1’36”249 and Rubens Barrichello was second in 1’36”650.

The McLaren-Mercedes drivers are next, but unlike yesterday’s qualifying, Kimi Raikkonen was ahead in third spot (1’36”652) with David Coulthard fourth (1’36”930.) Next was Ralf Schumacher’s BMW-Williams in 1’37”167, with Jarno Trulli rounding off the top six for Renault (1’37”281.)

It was a calm and uneventful session for the Scuderia. Michael completed 15 laps, five of them checking out the T-car, while Rubens did 11 laps. Neither driver had any problems nor did they need to make any changes to the car’s set up.

There were several spins this morning, including Ralf Schumacher and local hero Takuma Sato, who was tenth fastest. After his huge accident in yesterday’s qualifying session, everyone was delighted to see Allan McNish fit enough to take part this morning. The Scotsman posted the eleventh best time in his Toyota.
