The team celebrated the event this afternoon with the driver in the team motorhome in the paddock. He was presented with a plate, on which all the events were listed, along with a photo of the entire team.

To celebrate this important landmark in Michael’s career, President Montezemolo was present, having arrived this morning to watch qualifying, along with Jean Todt and the entire squad. Michael Schumacher’s achievement was not the only cause for celebration. It was also time to wish Research and Development boss Ignazio Lunetta a happy 46th birthday and a second chance to raise a glass for Rubens Barrichello’s 30th which had already been toasted on Thursday afternoon.

Michael Schumacher took the opportunity to comment on the fact that many Ferrari fans had been upset at the use of team orders in Austria. "We have always cared for our fans," he said. "Team orders is part of this sport and in the past the tifosi has accepted it. That is why we were surprised by their reaction on this occasion. But we certainly do care about their feelings and we can understand why they reacted in this way."

On the fact that he has reached a century of Grands Prix with the Scuderia, Michael added: "It is great to have reached this record and it is also an honour as it shows the trust we have in one another and how deep goes our relationship. So far, we have had a wonderful time together and I am looking forward to that feeling continuing over the next few years with Ferrari."
