The Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro man was proved right this morning as cloudy skies and drizzle greeted the early risers at the English track. Chaos was another early morning visitor as the organisers do not seem to have managed to sign-post the new roads which have opened this year to ease traffic congestion. Friday is reckoned to be the worst day of the weekend in terms of weather with drier conditions promised for Saturday and Sunday.

More serious uncertainty surrounds the future of the Arrows team, who failed to bring their cars to the circuit yesterday and asked for permission to have their cars scrutineered this morning instead of yesterday. It appears that various of the team’s creditors are seeking legal action for money’s owed them and that includes Cosworth. The engine supplier, which Arrows shares with Jaguar is allegedly holding back on its supply of engines until the team pays its outstanding bills.

By contrast, everything is proceeding according to the usual routine in the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro camp, where the only uncertainty is the weather for the first free practice session which starts as usual at 11 o’clock.
