Rubens Barrichello could hardly fail to be delighted with second place, having started from the back of the grid in an exciting and action packed race.

Barrichello admitted he relished this type of wet weather situation. “I like driving in the wet and I also had fun driving through the field. That’s what happens when you know you are driving a car which allows you to push for the whole race. I made sure I was calm after the problems at the start and I maintained the right level of determination throughout the race.”
“I really enjoyed my battle with Montoya,” added the Brazilian. “Because we know one another well and respect one another so it was a hard but fair fight.”
As for the problems on the formation lap, Rubens is still not sure what the problem was. We will analyse what happened. I can say it was a problem with the launch control but a different one to what happened in Barcelona at the Spanish GP,” explained Barrichello. “It’s impossible to say if I could have won if I had started from second place. There are so many variables in every race that you cannot predict the outcome. We should be happy with this result because it is very positive.”
