Final 30 minutes for the teams to finalise their settings ahead of the French GP later today and Ferrari put in a lot of work in the session. Michael Schumacher was keen to test both his race car and spare car as the session got underway. The early lap times from Ferrari are suggestive that they may well run a 3-stop strategy today. With Williams seemingly being closer to Ferrari this race then they may well use their points advantage to take a chance on a more risky but potentially race winning strategy.

Rubens Barrichello puts in a good number of laps and he sets the fastest time so far with a lap of 1 minute 15.255 seconds as once again in warm-up Williams do very little running saving their engine for the race. Ralf Schumacher has been out but seems to be having some problems as multiple spins indicate handling problems. Montoya was to appear with 10 minutes to run in the session. The constant lap times set by Barrichello are an indication of 3 stops but maybe that is what Ferrari want their rivals to think?

7 minutes to go and Michael Schumacher set the new fastest lap and he continues to lap with a frightening pace for the Michelin runners as Bridgestone runners dominate the top 6 places. 1.15.093 is the new fastest lap by Schumacher but that is soon to drop to a lap of 1.14.940 as the German continues to lap. Barrichello is also back out on track and he is flying as well and he takes the new fastest lap with a 1.14.888 and he sets about improving that further but he loses time in the second sector.

Closing moments of the session and Michael Schumacher is out on track and he is flying, dropping the fastest lap to a 1.14.174, which is a fantastic lap when you look at the times round about him and Ferrari. So a good session for Ferrari and one that fills the team with even more confidence for the race ahead. A three stop race would be risky but if this is the pace they can run then it would sure make it interesting.
