The AT&T
Williams team would return to the Circuit de Catalunya for a further three
days of testing at the Spanish circuit. The last time the team had visited
this circuit they had to abandon their test due to a failure with the front
wing which could not be resolved at the track.
This
time the team would return with a front wing with a new design for the front
wing mounting points. Present for the days testing were race drivers Nico
Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima.
The day would see difficult
weather conditions with cloud and intermittent rain affecting the circuit.
Nico was able to make the most of the conditions and set the fastest time of
the day with a 1m:30.675. Kazuki was second fastest but some 1.6 seconds
slower than Nico.
Kazuki would
complete ninety six laps compared to Nico's seventy three. Kazuki was
focusing on shorter runs whereas Nico completed longer one's.
Williams F1 Test Team Manager
Dickie Stanford commented: “The weather really hampered play today in
Barcelona. The intermittent rain, in particular, made the track very greasy
for the duration of the session. Rosberg and Nakajima were in the cockpit
for us and concentrated on set-up work and endurance runs so our running
wasn’t as adversely affected by the conditions as it perhaps was for
others.”
