The AT&T Williams team endured a difficult qualifying session, with neither Nico Rosberg nor Kazuki Nakajima progressing into Q3. With one sector on the circuit proving particularly problematic, it was impossible to maintain a consistently strong pace across a lap and as a consequence, Nico will start tomorrow’s race from 15th and Kazuki from 17th.
Nico Rosberg:
Nico Rosberg"It’s very dispiriting to be starting the race in 15th place like last weekend in Japan. I gave everything in the sessions and extracted the maximum out of the car, but it just didn’t come together today. As a consequence, tomorrow’s race will be difficult starting from this far back. Apparently it may rain, and if that happens, it may help us to achieve a better result. We will all be doing our best to have a stronger performance tomorrow."
Kazuki Nakajima:
Nakajima"I knew it would be quite difficult today in qualifying from my experience during P3 this morning. There were some points on the track where I really needed to improve, but I didn’t manage to make any headway during qualifying. Of course the outcome is not what I wanted, but I guess I now need to try harder to improve in the race itself."
Rod Nelson, Chief Operations Engineer:
Rod Nelson"Naturally it was a below par qualifying session. This circuit shows up the main deficiency in the car, which we have improved but not corrected - we are slow in sector two, which is made up of high-speed corners, so with this in mind, we have probably done the best we can in the circumstances. Looking forward to tomorrow, the weather forecast is a little variable and it is possible that there may be some rain, which might mix things up a bit."

Wondering why Kazuki struggles here to find the pace...He's been good on tracks he had driven before specially those where he had driven in a F1 car...He had the experience of driving in an F1 car last year here too, but admits to struggle for some parts...let's hope next season when he comes to OZ, it won't be the same!

They don't say it, but it could be related to tyres, here teams have to use the hardest Bridgestone tyres, and I think Kazuki struggles to get temp to them. In laps with prime tyre he's quite slower than Nico and then on option he closes the gap

Yes that was what I thought before the weekend start but then they came out and claim things about making tyres work, are better this year.

Yeah, it seems they get it to work this year, but Kazuki strugles even with softer compounds on quali, I think he has an issue at quali like for example Heidfeld had

AERO again mate very poor aero and balance on our cars.

Roll on next year ,and lets just hope they get it right for the FW31.

We're talking about Kazuki's lack of pace today, we know FW30's aero sucks sad smiley

naka is just an average F1 driver nothing more.

Nico is a bit special ,give him a decent car then see what he can do.
He proved himself last year in qualifying
He has got what it takes to go all the way just build him a car to battle at the front with.

gpl, Naka has proved both in Valencia and Singapore that if it's a level track for all drivers, he's not that much behind of Nico despite being a rookie.
Your explanation of Nico, sounds more like a "special" driver than a "bit special" driver, don't you think the same?!tongue sticking out smiley

Don't start again with all the "Nico doesn't deserve this @#$%& of car" or "if Nico wants to leave then sell him" or "Nico is overrated" bla bla bla

IMO Nico is where he wants to be, he feels good here and he knows that he has many years left to win races and championships, but before, he wants to try to grow up with the team that gave him the frst chance to test a F1 car, to get the first drive... And he knows that if he can archive to win grand prixs with Williams and be again at the top, then the value of it is 100x times bigger than 5, 6 or 20 tittles
Anyway 2009 is the last chance, if we aren't at the top or near next season, Williams will be a midfield team for the rest of the century

Nico maybe is wating time in Williams, but when he had a winning car this season (Monaco, Canada)or even in Silverstone when he could have finished 5th or 4th he wasted his chances...so I think it´s really fair for both
