I would love to be able to ask Sam a question or two.

Williams and proud of it.

Would you get a honest straight answer out of this man tho.
I don,t think so
We have known him now for 6 years and he still cannot tell it as it is , and yet Ruby comes along , and within a few months he tells us all the cars weaknesses and what need to be changed to get this car heading in the right direction , as far as he is concerned.

True, but Sam does not usually dodge a question.

Williams and proud of it.

There is a public relations element to my job and every single message we put out publicly is checked, re-checked, read and re-read - to make sure the message is clear and unambiguous, exactly as we want it. And that is with WRITTEN media, and the time to get it right before we release our message. For F1 people to do it 'thinking on their feet' takes quite some expertise.

And to be fair, he can't exactly come out and say "yeah we know the car's rubbish/we don't expect any improvements till halfway through the season/we just don't have the skill or resources" etc etc - he's just not going to do it, is he? It'd kill any chance of acquiring or retaining sponsors.

We have to be realistic about these things.

Supporters support - fans blow hot and cold...
