The second Friday practice session for the 2012 Canadian Grand Prix would see the Williams F1 team have their drivers finish in thirteenth and seventeenth. Pastor Maldonado would take to the track early and would be third with a 1m:17.393 running on the soft tyre. He would set a 1m:16.671 to be fastest but his time at the top was brief. Pastor would pit after a seven lap run while it would be Hamilton who was fastest with a 1m:15.895, followed by Schumacher.

Bruno's early pace had seen him third with a 1m:19.185. He would have a few off track moments taking to the grass at Turn eight and nine. With forty four minutes of the session completed Pastor was in eleventh with a1m:16.319 running on the supersoft tyre.

But for team-mate Bruno Senna his session would go wrong as he was to crash at the wall of champions seeing his car badly damaged. Bruno had clipped the kerb sending his car into a spin and backwards into the barrier returning back onto the track after the impact. Bruno had the new rear wing on his car and this was destroyed. At the time Bruno was on the super soft tyre and was in fifteenth with a 1m:17.022. As a result of the crash the session had been red flagged. His car would be returned to the pit lane where the Williams mechanics would get hold of it to commence the repairs.

There would be twenty minutes remaining in the session as Pastor returned running on the supersoft's. With the end of the session Bruno had dropped to seventeenth with his 1m:17.022 while Pastor would drop a few places to be thirteenth with a 1m:15.987. Despite the lack of pace the team was happy with their long run pace.
