The second Friday practice session for the 2015 Spanish GP would see Williams Martini drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa 8th and 10th. In what was an uneventful session for the team both drivers would work through longer runs on the medium tyre prior to taking on the harder tyre late in the session.
Williams
Martini Spanish GP Friday 2nd Practice
Team Summary:
Vettel would set the first quick time with a 1m:29.294 followed by
Hulkenberg and Perez. Both Williams drivers were out for their first run
both of hard tyres. Rosberg was now second but Valtteri would go third with
a 1m:30.834. Rosberg would go fastest with a 1m:29.075 from Vettel and
Raikkonen. Fifteen minutes completed and Hamilton would go fastest with a
1m:27.826. After their first runs the Williams drivers were eighth and
twelfth. The session would be red flagged as a result of debris on the main
straight. It was the engine cover from Grosjean's Lotus.
The Williams drivers were first to come back out with the restart of the
session. They were told that both Felipe and Valtteri would do two laps
pushing to check tyre temperatures. The Williams pair were eighth and ninth
but they would drop to ninth and tenth. Vettel would go quickest with a
1m:27.260 running on the medium tyre with one hour remaining. Felipe and
Valtteri had dropped to eleventh and twelfth. Hamilton would go fastest with
a 1m:26.852, to be 0.5 seconds ahead of Vettel. Thirty minutes remaining and
Valtteri and Felipe were eighth and tenth. Both Williams drivers were on
longer runs on the medium tyre. They would complete the session running on
the hard tyre. With the end of the session Valtteri and Felipe were eighth
and tenth.
Felipe Massa:
Felipe would follow Valtteri out for his first run and would set a 1m:30.262
to be seventh then eighth. Felipe would pit having completed eight laps.
Felipe would return to the track this time on the option medium tyre. His
first lap was a 1m:28.712 to be fourth, which is 1.45 seconds off the
quickest time. Felipe would pit after his medium tyre run. Felipe had the
quickest speed with 330.4kph. Felipe was currently ninth as he returned to
the track still on the medium tyre. Felipe was now tenth and after a long
run would pit briefly taking on the hard compound tyre.
Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would return to his driving duties and would be first out for the
Williams team. He would set a 1m:30.834 to be third but would drop to fourth
then down to eighth. With the red flag Valtteri had dropped to twelfth. On
his second run Valtteri would set a 1m:30.332 to now be ninth. Valtteri
would pit currently tenth but would drop to thirteenth as others went faster
on the option tyre. Valtteri would also come out for a medium tyre run and
would improve with a 1m:28.525 to be sixth which would become seventh.
Valtteri was back out on the track currently eighth. Valtteri would complete
his long run on the medium tyre pitting to take on the hard tyre.
