Bahrain GP: Both Williams drivers in top ten in FP2

The second Friday practice session for the 2016 Bahrain GP would see the Williams Martini team with both their drivers in the top ten. Valtteri Bottas would finish in 8th and Felipe Massa 10th. Both drivers would complete runs on the supersoft and medium tyre. Their runs would see them do longer runs on both types of tyre as well as a short run on the softer tyre. Valtteri would say after the session that there was still a lot of work to do.

Team Summary:
With the track lights now on the second Friday practice session for the 2016 Bahrain GP would get underway. Ten minutes into the session Rosberg would be quickest with a 1m:32.173 running on the soft tyre. Both Williams Martini cars would come out on the medium tyre for their first run. Hamilton was second followed by Kvyat and Verstappen. Vettel would move into third also using the soft tyre. Both Williams drivers would complete short runs on the supersoft tyre finishing in fourth and fifth.

More drivers were coming out on the supersoft tyre including both Mercedes cars. A 1m:31.001 from Rosberg with Hamilton still second. With fifty minutes remaining Valtteri and Felipe were fifth and seventh. This would become seventh and ninth as others went quicker. Both drivers would return remaining on the supersoft tyre. They would be on a long run on this softer tyre. With thirty minutes remaining both Williams cars would pit changing to the medium tyre. Both drivers were on a long run on the medium tyre. With the end of the session both Williams drivers would complete seventeen laps on the medium tyre. Valtteri and Felipe would finish the session in eighth and tenth.

Felipe Massa:
Felipe would also come out also on the medium tyre. Felipe's first time was a 1m:35.402 to be fourteenth. This would become fifteenth as Felipe pitted. He would return this time running on the supersoft tyre. Felipe's first lap time on this tyre was a 1m:32.873 to be fourth. He would drop to fifth with his team-mate one place ahead. Felipe would spin but was able to continue returning to his pit. He would fall to ninth prior to coming back out for his next run. Felipe would pit briefly after a short time on the track. Felipe would also pit coming out on the medium tyre for a longer run.

Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would take to the track first coming out on the medium tyre for the first time. His first time was a 1m:34.761 to be ninth and the quickest of those on the medium tyre. He would drop to tenth. Valtteri would follow his team-mate into his pit. He would also return running on the supersoft tyre. He would finish his lap with a 1m:32.792 to be fourth. Valtteri's lap would see him have a major lock-up at Turn Ten. Valtteri would also pit. Valtteri was back out for a further run on the used supersoft tyres. Valtteri would be the first to pit switching to the medium tyre completing a long run till the end of the session.
