Russian GP: FP2 sees no change for Williams Martini
By Andrew Hooper
September 29 2018
The second Friday practice session for the 2018 Russian GP would see no change in the results for the Williams Martini team with their drivers finishing last in the order. Sergey Sirotkin would finish in 19th having completed runs on both the soft and hypersoft tyre. For team-mate Lance Stroll his session would see him finish in 20th having focused on the ultrasoft tyre during the session. Both drivers would have fairly uneventful sessions with Lance reporting that he had hit a kerb and may have done damage to his car. Based on this the rest of the weekend is going to a be very difficult for the Williams team as they continue to struggle for pace.
Williams
Martini Russian GP Friday 2nd Practice
Team Summary:
The opening half and hour of the second Friday practice session would see
the Williams pair lead the mileage rankings but they were at the bottom of
the timesheets with Lance on the ultrasoft tyres leading Sergey on the
soft's. With half an hour of the session completed the Williams drivers were
16th and 20th but the places had been reversed with Sergey leading Lance.
The top three was Verstappen on the hypersoft tyre, 1m:34.164, followed by
Hamilton and Bottas on the ultrasoft. The next runs would see hypersoft tyre
runs from a large number of drivers. Hamilton would go quickest with a
1m:33.548 followed now by Bottas, Verstappen, and Ricciardo.
The Williams drivers were currently 17th and 18th but those behind them had
yet to set their hypersoft times. Hamilton would improve his quickest time
with a 1m:33.385. The Williams drivers would drop to 19th and 20th as others
went quicker. But with close to an hour completed they would remain in these
the final positions and as the session drew to an end they would complete
further runs but would remain slowest. Both Williams drivers were a
considerable margin behind the midfield group. Fifteenth placed Grosjean was
around a second faster than the Williams pair. Based on this the rest of the

continue to struggle for pace.
