Team Summary:
With the start of Q1 for the Emilia Romagna GP qualifying there would be a
rush of drivers coming out with Stroll setting the first quick time with a
1m:16.082 with Raikkonen second and Schumacher third. But the session would
be Red Flagged when Tsunoda was to crash seeing massive amount of damage to
the rear of his car. His car had spun and gone into the barrier rear end
first, seeing his qualifying come to an end. The track would empty with only
five times set. Only one Williams car had set a time and it was now fourth.
The period would restart with a rush of cars coming out including both
Williams cars. Verstappen would set a 1m:15.109 to be quickest with Leclerc
second followed by Ocon and Sainz. But Bottas would go quickest with a
1m:14.926 now followed by Norris and Verstappen.
Hamilton was in fourth followed by Perez, Leclerc, Sainz, Ocon, and
Ricciardo. But Hamilton would move into second and Norris third. There were
three minutes remaining so one further run was expected. After their final
runs the Williams drivers would finish in 12th and 14th. At the front it was
Bottas from Hamilton, Norris, Verstappen, Ocon, Perez, Sainz, Leclerc,
Vettel and Stroll tenth.
Q2 and both Williams were running on the medium tyres for their first runs.
With times being set Norris was quickest with a 1m:14.718 followed by
Hamilton and Verstappen. Leclerc was fourth followed by Bottas, Perez,
Stroll, Sainz, Gasly and the Williams of George. With the second runs
completed the Williams pair would finish 12th and 14th with George leading
Nicholas. The top ten would finish with Perez, Norris, Leclerc, Hamilton,
Verstappen, Bottas, Gasly, Ricciardo, Ocon and Stroll tenth.
The final period of qualifying would see the first runs completed it would
be Hamilton fastest with a 1m:14.411 from Verstappen, Perez, Norris,
Leclerc, Bottas, Gasly, Ocon, Ricciardo and Stroll yet to set a time. The
second runs would see Hamilton remain fastest with Perez second followed by
Verstappen, Leclerc, Gasly, Ricciardo, Norris, Bottas, Ocon and Stroll.
Norris had set a faster time than Hamilton but his time was deleted due to
track limits. As for Williams they would finish qualifying in 12th and 14th
which was such a fantastic result from the team to have both cars into the
second period of qualifying as George was only 0.1s off Q3. But this result
would put them in a great position for Sunday's race. |
