For Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz it was a race that would unfortunately see the pair make contact going into T1 as Alex was trying to pass Carlos. This would see damage to Alex's car which would see him forced to pit. He would be classified as 17th while Carlos would continue to be 16th. Very much a race that I suspect the team will want to move on from very quickly. The Sprint would see Carlos starting from the pit lane and for him his Sprint would become pretty much a test session. For Alex would he would finish where he started in 16th. Qualifying would see Alex 16th and Carlos 17th after making some changes that did improve their cars but not by as much as hoped. It is very much the case that both drivers are getting the best from a car that is far from its most competitive. Alex was able to make it into SQ2 and would finish in 16th after what he described as a not bad Friday but for Carlos he would have issues in practice which affected his Sprint qualifying. Carlos was have several moments where he would go across the gravel and one would damage his floor which affected his ability to learn the car. This would ultimately see him only manage 18th in the qualifying. The results will see both drivers start down the order in Saturday's Sprint but given the state of the teams inability to bring updates to the FW48 this is not a real surprise. This circuit offers its own unique challenges but these are made even more so by the fact that this weekend is a Sprint format with its limited practice. For the Williams F1 Team they arrive with the encouraging news that Alex Albon will continue with the team in 2027. But aside from this, what with the challenges that the season so far has placed upon the team, it is far from certain as to how the Dutch weekend will play out. It is not expected to see any significant updates coming for this event so it will very much come down to what the team can achieve in terms of the setup of the FW48. For both drivers it was very much the case of getting the best out of what is still a very difficult 2026 car. For Alex his race marked his 100th for the Williams F1 Team so it was a shame that his race performance did not see him come away with a better result. For Carlos he would have a moment where he would make conatct with the McLaren of Piastri and he was been lapped. He would receive a penalty that would drop him down the order. Overall it was another tough weekend for the team and now with the summer F1 break it is hoped that the team can recover in the second half of the 2026 F1 season. And this would continue from practice and into qualifying with Carlos only managing 18th and Alex one place behind in 19th. It could only be described as one of the poorest results so far in 2026. Across their practice sessions and qualifying both drivers would complain of a car that was inconsistent in its ontrack behaviour. And to make it even more frustrating the team has been struggling to understand the reasons behind these issues. There is still a lot of overnight work to do for the team as they try to resolve various issues including overheating of the rear tyres. But despite the times the team still feels that they had a better Friday than they did at Spa. For Alex Albon this race marks his 100th race with the Williams F1 Team. It woud be a great way to see out the first half of the 2026 F1 season with a memorable result for Alex as well as Carlos Sainz and the team. After a series of difficult races the team is hopeful of producing a positive result in Hungary but it will be difficult with the team not expected to bring any sigificant performance related updates to the FW48. Carlos would lose time in his pit stop having to replace a damaged front wing but after that he felt that he had good pace in the later stages of the race. For Alex his race would start well but as the race progressed he would struggle to keep up with other midfield runners. Despite the fact that the team got the most out of their cars during the race it certainly was not enough to see them seriously compete with their midfield competition. The next race is in Hungary in just a weeks time so not a lot can be expected in terms of the team bringing performance to the car. For Carlos his result was a step forward over his practice sessions where he had struggled with issues but the team was able to turn things around for qualifying. But for Alex Albon it was very much the opposite as he has being able to perform well in practice but suddenly, after changes to his car between FP3 and qualifying, would find his qualifying go badly not making it into Q2 like Carlos. For Alex his day was somewhat more successful than his team-mate feeling that his car was marginally better than it had been in Silverstone. He would finish 15th on the day but for&nbsp; Carlos his day would commence with an issue with his car in FP1 that put him behind in terms of his setup work. Things would be a bit better in FP2 but again he felt that the session did not go as well as he had hoped for finishing 16th. For the team there is now a lot of work to do in order to be in the best possible position come qualifying and the race. After the frustrations of the last few races the team is hoping to recover their season at Spa. Spa puts up many challanges including the well know one of the weather plus the newer one of the fact that Spa is anticipated to be&nbsp;the most energy sensitive circuit the team has encountered so far this year. This will place&nbsp;demands on both Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon in terms of how they manage their races and qualifying. Hopefully the team is able to find a setup that works better than at the previous tracks and that they can come away with a positive result from the weekend. For the team this race is another opportunity for them to continue the process of recovery after their poor start to the 2026 season. Little new is expected to appear on the FW48 at the Austrian race but the team has plans to bring performance to their car. For Carls Sainz and Alex Albon this again places pressure of them to extract the most from what has proven to still be a difficult car. Carlos Sainz would manage to finish 12th but had no realistic opportunty to finish in the points while Alex Albon would be not classified as a finisher finishing several laps behind the leader after having to make a lengthy pit stop to have an issue with a camera repaired. After that the remaining laps of the race became very much a test session. It was very much another difficult session with Carlos Sainz finishing 16th and Alex Albon 18th after having not made it past Q1. Both drivers were able to&nbsp;do their best in terms of getting their performances from the difficult FW48. Alex continued to fall behind Carlos something that the team needs to figure out the reasons for. Unfortunately the issues that the team and drivers have being suffering were somehting that the team was aware of. Luke was meant to run in the session replacing Alex Abon but due to an electrical issue he would not complete a single lap. Such a disappointing way to see the team start the weekend. Then in FP2 with the return of Alex both he and Carlos sainz would struggle with a car that was again showing its shortcomings on the Barcelona circuit. It was so tough for Alex that at one stage he asked to pit to try and sort out his lack of performance. By the end of FP2 we would only see Carlos 14th and Alex 19th. Overall a very messy day for the team which hopefully they can sort out overnight and come back with a better Saturday. This race was previously know as the Spanish GP but this title has been given to the new race being held at the new Madrid track. For Williams this will be their first time at the track ths year having missed the pre-season test. So there will be a lot of assess with the new 2026 FW48 in terms of things like power management. For Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz they both are keen to continue the good performances of late. Hopefully a points result for both drivers will be within the team's reach. Despite the satisfaction in seeing Alex achieve this result it was disappointing to see team-mate Carlos Sainz, who also was looking very good to also achieve a points result, forced to retire when he was involved in incidents with other drivers. Both Hulkenberg and Colapinto would be involved in moments where they would both make contact with Carlos car eventually seeing him forced to retire. So very much a mixed race result. Great to see points for Alex but it could have been better had it not been for Carlos being forced out of the race. Both drivers were able to put in performances that saw the team well placed for Sunday's race. The performance from Carlos was a memorable one as he was forced to set a time under the most difficult of circumstances.&nbsp;Q1 was stopped by a Red Flag with just minutes remaining forcing Carlos to make just just a single lap on old and cold tyres. But he rose to the occassion and joined Alex in Q2. With the end of Q2 both drivers would finish the sallest of margins from making it into Q3.
