Kimi Räikkönen has won the 2007 Belgian Grand Prix by over two seconds from his Ferrari team mate Felipe Massa. Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Fernando Alonso finished the forty four lap race in third place just over 14 seconds behind the two Ferrari’s. Britain’s Lewis Hamilton finished the race a distant 4th place 23 and a half seconds behind the two dominant Ferrari’s

Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen led the Belgian grand prix from start to finish, with only team mate Felipe Massa looking to be the only person that stood a chance of overtaking the iceman, in the end Kimi was too quick and won the race with ease.

The two McLaren’s couldn’t keep up with the faster longer wheelbase Ferrari’s, current championship leader Lewis Hamilton was dropping almost a second a lap to the two Ferrari’s at one point, Fernando Alonso wasn’t dropping as much time to the two Ferrari’s but by the end of the race, Fernando was almost 15 seconds behind the two Ferrari’s, which had slowed down after their second stops to protect their engines.

The BMW of Nick Heidfeld finished the race in 5th place, 17 seconds ahead of Williams driver Nico Rosberg, who drove a strong race to collect 3 more world championship points.

Mark Webber gained one place from his starting place to collect two points for the Red Bull team. Hekki Kovalainen used a one stop strategy to gain the last world championship point.

My take on the race? Formula one’s return to Spa, after the circuit’s sabbatical year in 2006, was far from spectacular. Spa is supposed to be one of the circuits that always provides world class motor racing. Whatever changes the overtaking group are planning to make to formula one, they can’t come soon enough.
