The second day
of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya for the AT&T Williams team would
start with the weather conditions just as bad as they were on the first day.
Regular showers during the day made it such that it was always a wet track.
Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima were joined by Nico Hulkenberg later in the
day.
With
the weather been so bad the team would take the opportunity to practice some
pit stops with both Nico and Kazuki. Nico would also only be completing
short runs. Such were the conditions that full wets were required. The
morning session would see very little running, even Kazuki would only
complete one lap. An exception to this was Nico.
The afternoon session would see Nico Hulkenberg take over from Kazuki. At
the end of the day Nico Rosberg would finish sixth with a best time of
1m:31.963, after completing ninety seven laps. Nico and Kazuki were in ninth
and tenth. Kazuki would not set a time. This was due to the fact that he
spent his day practicing pit stops.
Williams F1 Test Team Manager Dickie Stanford commented: “We spent the whole
morning practising pit stops with the race team and both race drivers today.
We completed approximately 40 pit stops in total. Nico Hulkenberg then took
over from Kazuki in the afternoon and continued set-up work on the car while
Nico ran through some systems checks. The wet conditions really played havoc
with the session for the second day in succession but we’re expecting a
drier day tomorrow, during which we will again run all three drivers.”
