Former double world champion Fernando Alonso is to leave the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula one team at the end of the year, after a whole season at the McLaren which brought him four wins and one hundred and nine points. It isn't known where the former McLaren driver will move to, but many teams will now be wanting to get Fernando in their car for next year.

Fernando has looked likely to leave the team for months, the Spaniard has never looked completly comfotable at the Woking based team. Fernando has repeatedly critisised the team for disadvataging his car.

"Fernando will no longer be with McLaren," Alonso's manager Luis Garcia Abad is quoted as telling Diario As. "I can confirm that. He is free to join any other team next season."

Due to Fernando's departure from the team, the driver market has been thrown wide open, even if a driver has a contract with a team their seat ins't certain.

"The leaking of Alonso's grievances weakened his position in the paddock, as it made him look like a trouble maker," Allen said. "Many teams were saying by the end of the season, that they would not want him anywhere near them." Said James Allen when talking to ITV. Although the fact Alonso is a double world champion will make him the main person in the drivers market.
