Jarno Trulli salvages 2 points for Toyota in what was a tough weekend. While Ralf Schumacher finished way back in 15th place and one lap down. Micahel Schumacher wins, and announces his retirement from the sport.

It was a hard fought race for Toyota with both Jarno and Ralf starting 11th and 13th respectively. In the first few laps Jarno was 12th stuck up behind Nico Rosberg in the Williams Cosworth and Ralf (after running wide at the first corner) was 16th battling with the Red Bull's and Scuderia Toro Rosso's. Which is where Ralf stayed for pretty much the whole of the race finishing 15th behind both the Toro Rosso drivers of Scott Speed and Vitantonio Liuzzi and only beating Takuma Sato in the Super Aguri and Christijan Albers in the 'new' Spyker MF1.

Jarno meanwhile fought his way through the field never out of a battle firstly with Red Bull's David Coulthard over 10th place after the first stops but it was Jarno's one stop strategy that helped im into the points and Jarno spent the last 5 laps fighting with BMW-Sauber's Nick Heidfeld and Ferrari's Felipe Massa. Jarno held them both off to finish seventh and picking up 2 points at his home grand prix in what has been a very difficult year for the Italian. Despite scoring two points Toyota lost 5th place in the championship to BMW-Sauber after Robert Kubica got his first podium in Formula One helping them ahead of Toyota with a three point gap.

But the story of today was undoubtably the story of the day was the news that Michael Schumacher will retire from Formula One at the end of 2006 after seven World titles (and possibly one more!) and 15 years in the sport.

And what a day to do it! Michael took the race victory for Ferrari in Italy at Monza, the stuff dreams are made of for any Ferrari driver! Also the Title is shaping up to be a nail-bitter as Schumacher cut current World Champion Fernando Alonso's title lead from 12 points to 2 points with only 3 races to go. Alonso himself started the day out very angry after the race stewards demoted the Renault driver from 5th on the grid to 10th for 'impeeding' Ferrari driver Felipe Massa in Qualifying yesterday. The World Champion made a very bold statement by saying that Formula  1 is 'no longer a sport.' The general feeling is and certainly from my point of view that the penalty was very harsh and not justified, people will talk about it for a while to come. As well as starting the day in not the best of spirits Alonso certainly didnt finish the day in the best of spirits either, as with only a handful of laps to go Alonso's engine blew going down into turn 1 after a hard fought race battling with Robert Kubica and Felipe Massa. This happened to the delight of the tifosi and there's no doubting that currently its advantage Schumacher and Ferrari as Ferrari for the first time this year overtake Renault in the constructors championship.

Fisichella finished the day in fourth, a meer consolation for Renault. Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello finished 5th and 6th for Honda, Jarno as mentioned finished in 7th and Nick Heidfeld rounded out the points finishers.

But it is a day that goes down in history as the day that the worlds greatest racing driver retired after 15 succesful years in the sport. From everyone at TotallyToyota and the whole of Formula, goodbye Michael Schumacher, a true legend!
