Red Bull Racing Technical Director, Adrian Newey, has been taken to hospital for what ITV call "precautionary checks" following a big crash at Snetterton.

Adrian was taking part as a guest driver in the Ginetta G50 Cup when having been spun around by another competitor, he was heavily t-boned on the passenger side by a third car.

The race was red flagged, and an ambulance and doctors were seen in attendanace.

Shortly afterwards, ITV's Louise Goodman informed viewers that Adrian had been taken to hospital for what are described as precautionary checks.

Adrian said to be chatting to people whilst on his way to hospital, so hopefully he is perfectly fine.

Glad he's OK.

I assume an immediate racing ban will now be placed on AN until the WDC and WCC are firmly in the bag!!!

Funny, I was watching the BTCC meet today and they said he was in the G50 race. I thought at the time, 'that's a bit risky'. Hopefully he's OK, it was a fair old shunt.

I hope no bans are put in place. The Ginetta clearly did it's job and protected him well.

Supposedly it is a clause in Adrian Newey's contract with Red Bull, that they will support his racing endeavors financially. He often appears in cars sponsored by Red Bull.

This type of thing also suits the image of the company, and a far more frightening crash in Le Mans a few years ago didn't stop the guy from racing.

There are a lot of Chuck Norris style jokes flying around about Newey at the moment. It us on twitter I think.

This sort of thing (old rich men in expensive toys) supports the image of the company but Mark's bike riding extreme sport eco challenge in Tasmania doesn't ?

WTF!

Ban the silly old fart from racing anything faster than a walking frame and make sure we get the parts we need to win the Championship.
