Jaguar didn't have the best of times at Albert Park. Fortunately all cars managed to steer clear of the walls in todays qualifying session. All cars managed to steer clear of the walls in todays qualifying session. Antonio Pizzonia touched the dirt on his flying lap but managed to keep it going, eventually posting a 1:31.723. In 18th position he was the slowest of the qualifiers, ahead of the two Minardis that didn't complete a timed run. Antonio lost time in practice and blamed a lack of track familiarisation along with a heavy fuel load for his qualifying time.
Mark Webber touched the grass on the first corner of his flying lap. He continued on, pushing the R4 as much as possible. He crossed the line for a 1:29.367, achieving 14th position..
The jags were supposedly running with a high fuel load, so the positions don't necessarily give a true indication of the cars speed, in comparison to the rest of the field.
The two Ferraris are first and second. Schumacher is on pole with a time of 1'27"173
