According to the Daily Telegraph, Red Bull Racing’s lead driver David Coulthard earned 250,000.00 while driving to a fourth place finish in the Australian Grand Prix. The report went on to say that DC’s contract stipulates that he earn 50,000.00 a grand prix point. Mclaren’s troubles last year contrasted with David being told early on that he would not be back with Mclaren left Coulthard with very few F1 options.
DC’s manager Martin Brundle stated that Coulthard’s deal with Red Bull Racing “is not much better than charity.”
He went on to say, “We had the door slammed in our face left, right and centre at the end of last year.”
“David’s stock was so low. He could have pursued options outside of F1 but he was determined to land a drive if he could. In the end we cut a tight little deal.”

The contract DC signed with Red Bull is full of incentives along with his basic salary however; he is responsible for all of his own expenses this year.
Even still, David got what he wanted – a second chance at an F1 life. RBR got a brilliant driver now rediscovering his motivation and passion to succeed.

It’s a win – win situation for all.
