First and foremost, a big congratulations is in order to David Coulthard. David is now the British highest ever F1 points scorer, taking the title away from Nigel Mansell. DC has also taken the shortest ever time to take this title. With the points that David scored on Sunday, his total amount to date is 483 points. Sir Jackie Stewart, former owner of Stewart Racing which is now Red Bull Racing, had this to say :

"Anyone who wins 13 grands prix is highly talented,”. “We hear people saying he’s an underachiever but they are completely wrong. I have the highest regard for him as a great British driver and a great Scottish driver up there with the Clarks, the Stewarts and Innes Ireland. He’s up there with the best and to have scored so many points is another statement of ability and consistency. He has not won a championship but they are difficult to achieve.”

More news that is feeding it's way through to us is that Scott Speed, who is a young American driver for Red Bull Racing GP2, is set to test for the Formula 1 setup at Barcelona. The dates are set for March 24th and 25th. Scott hopes to be the first American in the sport since Micheal Andretti's time with McLaren. Team Boss Christian Horner had this to say :

“Having our own F1 team now provides us with a logical pinnacle for our junior driver program [Speed is a graduate of the Red Bull Driver Search, an initiative intended to “find” America’s next F1 driver]. The Barcelona test is part of our development schedule. We will be using last year’s car to carry out engine testing work, which does not need to involve our race drivers, so we decided to introduce Speed to F1, while Jani has already tested for Sauber-Petronas and Red Bull Racing last year.”

The car which Speed will test is the Jaguar R5 which was last years Jaguar F1 car.

 

It seems that after Malaysia, Red Bull Racing has everything on their side at the moment. Not inly do we have Status Quo surporting us (see pic above) but the Cosworth engines have now produced the engine to the only team which has had both of their drivers finnish in the points in the first two Grand Prix's. The Cosworth engines have proved there worthyness after providing good power, excellent reliability and pushing the cars that bit further in order to fend off some strong opposition. Surely this puts the feather in the hat of the Cosworth boys when it comes to decision time about our engine supplier in the next couple of seasons. When asked about the racent Grand Prix, Cosworth's Bernard Ferguson had this to say :

We are delighted for the team and so proud of Cosworth for being the only engine supplier to get both drivers in the points at the first two races with the same engines. No compromises were made in reaching this unique achievement."
