Toyota have a miserable time in Shanghai with both Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher retiring from the race. Michael Schumacher wins the race from title rival and reigning World Champion Fernando Alonso in the Renault with his team mate Giancarlo Fisichella.

This means that Schumacher and Alonso are tied on 116 points at the head of the table with 2 races to go. Schumacher is ahead due to having more wins than his Spanish rival.
