We've been waiting for a new qualifying system since the current one was introduced. In 2006 we will now see a more interesting 3 part knock out session, which Toyota's Jarno Trulli has criticised for being "too complicated." Whilst attending the Toyota Motorsport Festival in Japan, he said "It seems pretty complicated and confusing."
"I’m sure it will be fine, but as for me, I don’t like it very much, and I don’t think there are any other drivers that support the new system.
"But it’s already been decided, so we just have to wait and see what actually happens."
When asked what he preferred, remembering the Italian, along with Williams driver Mark Webber, is renowned as a one-lap specialist, he replied:
"I think the qualifying system we have had in the past was the best."
"I think it determined the pole position in the truest sense."
