The one and only practice session on Saturday was the first opportunity to see who would be challenging for pole in this afternoons new look knockout qualifying session. Toyota’s Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli improved on their times from yesterday, climbing into the top ten. Saturday – Third Session

The session began with a dusty track, but as the cars went out, the track became cleaner towards the end of the session. Britain’s Jenson Button was fastest, closely followed by Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari. The two Renault’s of Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella were third and fourth. If winter testing was anything to go by, these three teams look to be the ones who will be battling for pole this afternoon. After Toyota’s torrid day yesterday, the team worked on improving the set-up whilst getting the best from the tyres. In the end Jarno Trulli managed to move himself up into seventh, whilst Ralf Schumacher ended up a couple of places behind in ninth.

Next up is the all new knockout qualifying session which is expected to be action packed from the word go, ladies and gentleman, take your seats.
