Australia: Race – Ralf to lose podium?

April 2 2006

Toyota’s first podium of 2006 is in doubt after rumours suggest that Ralf Schumacher overtook BMW-Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld under yellow flags during the final Safety Car period. Heidfeld finished one place behind Ralf in fourth. If the rumours are true, its possible Ralf will suffer a similar fate as Toro Rosso’s Scott Speed, who overtook David Coulthard under a yellow flag and has consequently been given a 25 second penalty, losing his eighth place.

Heidfeld, who could be on the verge of the teams first ever podium finish, said Ralf passed him “within metres” of the yellow flags.

Update
It has been confirmed that Ralf Schumacher will keep his third place, meaning Nick Heidfeld will also remain in fourth.
