Jenson Button finally secured Honda Racing F1's first point of the season at today's French Grand Prix, but the Briton isn't letting the first taste of success in 2007 go to his head. "It's a good result," he said immediately after the race, "but we're not going to get too excited by it."

"It's still one point," said Button to ITV, "and we want to be at the front, so there's still a long way to go." However, a combination of canny strategy and some real pace in the car, enabled Button to ease ahead of Williams and even threaten Renault.

"If you look at the race pace today it was pretty good," agreed Button. "Today we got the maximum out of the car - that was as quick as it was.

"We got that point through speed," he continued, "not through people falling off, and that’s when I said I'd be happy. I am, and it’s a good base to build on. We're as quick as the Renaults, and very close to the BMWs race pace as well, so if we can sort out qualifying it will be great."

While today's race produced a good result for Button, Barrichello was left lagging behind, highlighting how close the current midfield is.

"We're not at the front yet," adds Jenson. "There's a long way to go but it's going to give the boys back at the factory something to smile about, I'm sure."
