As the first round of winter testing approaches quickly, it now seems that Lucky Strike BAR Honda will be starting the 2004 season with their 006 challenger, rather than the 005 'B' version announced earlier.
Despite Technical Director Geoff Willis stating back in June that the team will start with a hybrid car, with the basic front end of the 005 and the back end of the 006, sources now indicate that the decision has been made to press ahead with the all-new car.
Pressure from both senior managers and marketing teams have forced the decision, which some feel may go against the need for reliability. However, as reliability was appalling in 2003 anyway, that's not much of a loss, especially if the car is as quick as is promised.
