After spending last season as Takuma Sato's understudy within the busy Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda test team, Anthony Davidson has earned a promotion following Taku's selection as team-mate to Jenson Button in 2004.
It's a career progression Anthony is relishing: "I'm very much looking forward to this year as I will be making the step up from test driver to third driver," he said. "For 2004 the team will be allowed to run a third car in the Friday morning practice sessions and that means that I will be playing a key role in the race weekend itself. Jenson and Taku will be conserving their engine mileage on Fridays so it will be down to me to help them with decisions such as tyre choice. In regular testing I will be working very closely with the race drivers on tyre and chassis development. For me getting the chance to learn all the circuits in the calendar takes me one step closer to my goal of a full time race seat."
Anthony is also playing a vital role in team's preparations for the forthcoming season, helping the test team to team evaluate new technical systems plus a wide range of Michelin tyres in the run up to Melbourne.
